It has been weeks of deep thoughts!
All because I want to know what God is doing in Bethany. Maybe I shouldn’t ask HIM this question. Who am I to ask the Almighty what HE is doing. And, that kind of questions should be asked by the Pastor, the Elders and Deacon of the church, not me.
Me: “Lord, what are You doing in Bethany?”
Lord: “See all those who stray away and have not return for a long time?”
Me: “Huh! Sorry, have forgotten them …”
Lord: “Not me, I remember them. Always on the look out for them to come back to me.”
Me: “Must need a lot of patience though”
Lord: “Sure have. Want to join me to bring them back?”
Me: “What? Me? Lord, You ask the wrong guy. I don’t have the persuasiveness to talk. I can’t talk lah!”
Lord: “Well, why then ask me what I am doing in Bethany?”
Me: (thinking) “Ooop! Me and my big mouth” :(
Morale of this experience – It’s better not to be able to hear what God is speaking than to hear and not obey. I now know why being an Old Testament prophet is a tough job.
