Reflection - First semester of year 2009
Looking forward to the school semester break!!
Tired lah! :)
The first school semester has ended. This year has been quite tiring, having to drive the 2 girls to two different schools. Tanjong Katong road is the worst. This road is seemingly jammed pack with cars every morning. It has only 2 lanes. There is no bus bay and so when a bus stops, it literally hogs a lane. Instead of learning to be patience, I have learnt to weave in and out, overtaking here and there!! May be I shouldn’t do that.
OK, need to be more considerate. And start early.
Work wise, I have been engaging in some new engineering design to launch our very own products. We used to buy and sell the Spanish products. The profit margin is very low, though. So we decided to do it ourselves this year. It seems, God is with me. My design ideas are now working. I need more fine tuning to get it done in the first half of this year. Hope I can do a better design than the Spanish product, at a lower cost.
So, need to think very hard. And pray faithfully.
Personally, I have been quite consistent in reading my Bible and reflecting. I started reading with the historical books from Joshua and to 1 Kings. 1 Kings focuses on King Solomon (chapter 1–11) and King Ahab (end of Chapter 16 till the end of the book, chapter 24). But why cover so much on an evil king like Ahab? Could it be because of the prophet Elijah? They appear at the same time. This prophet plays a very pivotal role in the book of 1Kings also. The key phrases in the book are “did evil in the sight of the LORD” and “did what was right in the sight of the LORD” Really, Elijah and Ahab contrast each other to the extreme. One was for God, the other is for Baal. One was extremely evil, killing life to dead and taking away the rich’s property; the other was extremely good, raising dead to life and providing for poor widows
Therefore, need to do things right. And do it cheerfully.
Proverbs 3:5,6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths"
